Five Spanish citizens, children of immigrants, go to their parents' country of origin.
A co-production of Teatro Español and Teatre Nacional de Catalunya.
Premiere on June 26, 2021 at Las Naves del Español, Madrid
It is a journey to a country that is not really theirs, but which is part of the family mythology through the history of their parents. A story is constructed with fragments of their parents' life journey. The story; that of arriving in a host country and the struggle to obtain nationality.
Starting from a fragmented structure that puts humans at the center, the narrative of this story starts from the Iberian Peninsula then travels to Equatorial Guinea, Morocco, Cape Verde, China and the Dominican Republic. The journey of these five people born and educated in a country, Spain, which does not fully accept them. A journey of memory, learning, loss of innocence, passage to adulthood and the way we look at everything that is unknown to us. A trip is always really two trips. The first external, through the geography of the planet. The second internal, through the interior of the individual and the elements that make up their own identity, often called into question by a biased, limiting view.
